NightriderCatSo ComplcatedAmanda, I feel like I am sitting in the passenger seat while you are learning to drive and the license is vintage. I have decades of experience. Though your tips can be helpful I think you need a councilor, a therapist or even a female cohost to talk with and get outside your own thoughts. It’s like we suffer having to assist you taking inventory of your mental attic. Sometimes we all need help. You have great ideas and I truly respect you. I think with someone else to talk to you might have a more insightful content afterward.

Ashton<3Highlight of my week!I’ve listened and loved this podcast from the start! Amanda really knows vintage and you can tell. I love the insights offered and her words of wisdom. The vintage community needs more of this transparency!

julent LCheaper Than TherapyI highly recommend this podcast if you are a vintage seller, dealer, and/or refurbisher. Amanda is knowledgeable, generous, and funny. She hits on all the topics / problems that we face in this industry, and afterwards I feel like I’ve had a heartfelt chat with a good friend. Thanks for putting this kindness out into the world.

12SeriousVintageLAHypocritical, negative, self-inflatingLast episode she complains about unsolicited advice when she does nothing but do that on the facebook groups. Says she's not about "snark" when her whole podcast has understones of snarkiness as well as her comments all over Facebook. She is generally unkind and a know it all and pretentious to anyone that doesn't kiss her feet and praise her. Amanda just likes to hear her own voice. Podcast episodes are repetitive.

KingOfBearsHi I’m Ben, the Audio Editor of The Thrifters and husband to Amanda!I’ve been trying to make this podcast sound as good as possible and keep the timing nice and tight. How’s it sounding? A lot better the recordings were were making 6 years ago? (The Cheap Chills Show) That’s all I can hope for! Why is Amanda’s husband/editor reviewing this podcast….? I feel the need to respond specifically to some of the recent reviews of this podcast. First, I think it’s important to know something about Amanda and her motives for creating The Thrifters podcast. She is doing it because she has found a way to have success working for herself, doing what she loves rather than treading water in a toxic work environment (and coming from an impoverished childhood, with little schooling past HS). She knows there is room for other people (women, especially) who may also be looking for a way into a better situation and so she’s trying to help. That’s all. I promise there is no Ego stroking going on with this project. Amanda does impart her tidbits of knowledge mostly through personal stories and accounts of things she has been through, tried, seen, etc. If that feels too personal or “narcissistic” I would just say, maybe give her a break. Those looking for a podcast where people don’t have a strong point of view on the subject they are focusing on, I think it’s going to be tough finding anything that fits the bill. Please keep in mind this is not a paid class and this podcast goes out to you commercial-free. And snark? I don’t hear it. Her sense of humor, frankly Rules but I know it can’t be for everyone. As the guy who pours over every episode, I have never heard anything that feels judgmental, superior, or calls out anyone in particular. Finally, these episodes (like everything else in the world) are created in the moment, with all the things going on in the news present in our hostess’ mind. So in a week when there were multiple stories about people being gunned down for pulling into the wrong person’s driveway, these events were on Amanda’s mind as she passed through an area with A LOT of “Don’t tread on me” and similarly menacing (that’s right I said it) flags on people’s property and so she mentioned it. If this makes a listener feel judged then maybe a look inward would be worthwhile. What do you like about The Thrifters or find helpful? More reviews (and 5 Stars, obvi) would be appreciated!

glenna maeSeriously a must listen for vintage sellersA fun listen and so incredibly informative and helpful! I feel like I get to "talk shop" with some experts in the field. I've learned a lot from their combined wealth of real-life vintage experience. For all sellers at all levels, and collectors would likely enjoy listening as well. Thank you Amanda and Ben!

Bonovox66For Vintage Lovers and DreamersFinally! A podcast that isn’t afraid to get down to the nitty gritty, whole truth and nothing but the truth of what it’s actually like to work in the vintage industry! Glamorous? Sure but also: So. Much. Work. Highly recommend for all vintage lovers but should really be required listening for new comers and anyone thinking of sticking their feet in the enticing seas of vintage fashion sales. Thank you for all you do!
